Three Reasons Taylor Swift Had a Better Weekend Than You

Sara Spruch-Feiner

We imagine that in the life of Taylor Swift, most weekends are pretty epic. From her current 1989 tour to her insanely enviable girl squad, the superstar just seems to know how to have a good time. This weekend, however, she really outdid herself. From being a dream BFF to making her fans’ dreams come true to introducing her kitten Olivia Benson to its famous namesake, this weekend was packed with Swift gems. For a look at how Taylor basically made everyone in her life wildly happy, all while having a raucously good time, read on!

1. Swift is known for bringing surprise guests on her tours (models Gigi Hadid and Martha Hunt already hit the stage in Detroit), and Philadelphia was no exception. We know by now that Taylor is a major “Law & Order” fan, and so Mariska Hargitay‘s appearance both on and backstage served double duty. Fans got to see the actress join the singer as she belted “Style,” while behind-the-scenes, Swift’s adorable Scottish fold, Olivia Benson, met her namesake, Hargitay — TV’s original Sergeant Olivia Benson.

2. Swift is nothing if not intensely loyal to her fans, and this weekend, she decided to partake in an especially devoted bride’s wedding (also in Philadelphia — certainly a busy stop for the 1989 tour!) One superfan, Katy Harris, had in fact originally planned her wedding on Ms. Swift’s 25th birthday, December 13th. However, when plans fell through, Harris and her fiancé made a last-minute decision to bring their wedding to the 1989 tour — the parking lot to be specific. Of course, this moment was Instagrammed —and so, through the magic of social media, word spread to Swift herself, whose mom, Andrea Finlay, coordinated the ultimate wedding present—a trip backstage!

3. Finally, though she’d been in Pittsburgh just hours before, Swift jetted to Los Angeles on Saturday to host bestie Jaime King‘s baby shower. The guest list was predictably top-notch: Gigi HadidJessica AlbaNina DobrevDiane KrugerHailee SteinfeldSarah HylandTopher Grace, Selma Blair, and Emma Roberts were all in attendance at the West Hollywood Soho House bash. Completing the festivities was a photobooth and fun costumes to make the occasion particularly Instagram worthy.

And so, it’s pretty obvious that Taylor Swift outdid all of our weekends, which were spent in bed binging on “Orange Is The New Black.”
