After news that pop icon David Bowie, 69, died last night after losing his battle to cancer, celebrities were quick to take to social media to remember the singer who single-handedly mastered pop personas from Ziggy Stardust to the Thin White Duke.

Celebrities from Kanye West and Pharrell to Madonna took to social media to praise the late British singer’s creativity, many crediting Bowie as a prime inspiration for their own music careers.
