Your favorite high school football drama is about to get a revival.
The folks who brought us “Cruel Intentions: The Musical” and “The Unauthorized O.C. Musical” are officially working on an epic new show: “The Unauthorized ‘Friday Night Lights’ Musical.” Oh, and Scott Porter, one of the NBC TV show’s original faces, will star in the adaptation.
Porter will play Coach Taylor (who was actually Kyle Chandler in the TV series), and Molly McCook—who you might remember from the “Cruel Intentions” and “O.C.” musicals—will star alongside him in the role of sassy high school student Tyra, originally played by Adrianne Palicki.

Porter’s actually had a bit of practice on-stage, appearing on Off Broadway musical “Altar Boyz” before taking on the character of Jason Street on “FNL.”
Details are pretty scant right now, but the musical’s creators just got the legal approval from NBC Universal they needed to announce the news, you might want to think about booking a trip to California—FNL’s musical adaptation will launch in L.A. in 2016.
