To determine whether or not socks are going to be an outfit buzzkill, consider the following questions and opt out as you will:

  1. Are my bottoms so statement-worthy that socks would be overload?
  2. Are my shoes equally statement-worthy that socks just won’t fit into the equation?
  3. Is the pant hem or finish interesting enough that it respectfully deserves breathing room?

If you answered yes to any of the above, it’s time to practice the bare-foot-in-shoe maneuver—or, invest in several pairs of no-show liner socks.
