As we say our bittersweet good-byes to summer, there’s one thing that keeps us looking forward to the coming month: New York Fashion Week. It takes place Sept. 5-12 in New York City, where runways will be jam-packed with models sporting Spring 2014 collections from designers like Zac Posen, Richard Chai, Vera Wang, and more.

For fashion fiends like us, there’s nothing better than the weeklong whirlwind of running from show to show, taking note of the new trends and cutting-edge designs. But with some days stretching from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.—not including the seemingly endless stream of after-parties and after-after-parties— it’s crucial to take steps to streamline our daily routine so we can actually make it out of Fashion Week with a pulse.

With that in mind, we’ve compiled a handy list of our Fashion Week must-haves that are perfect for streamlining our fashion and beauty regimens. With this list of essentials (and a few shots of espresso), we just might survive NYFW.

From apparel must haves to practical accessories, click through to see our essentials to survive NYFW.

Fashion Week is a time when we're grateful that
jumpsuits and rompers are hot right now. An adult take on the trend,
like this black piece by Helmut Lang, is an easy way to achieve a polished, cool look. HELMUT Helmut Lang

If you haven’t already invested in a trusty, well-structured
black blazer, do so now. This staple item goes beyond being a NYFW
essential—it’s a life essential.  Zara Studio Dinner Jacket; $189; at zara.com

Although it’s tempting to stick to the good ol’ LBD all week in the name of ease and efficiency, separates and patterns make more of an impact. Create an eye-catching outfit without the fuss by opting for a two-piece set. This floral look by ASOS is sure to get you noticed. ASOS Pencil Skirt in Bold Floral with Centre Front Split; $59; at asos.com

Save time on hair care without skimping on style by playing
up your hair’s natural texture. A product like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray builds tons of body and volume without heating tools. Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray; $39; at oribe.com

If you’re not the type to strut the streets of Manhattan in
6” stilettos, this is not the time to
start. Do your feet a favor and choose a more subtle yet edgy heel that makes a
statement all its own. Lucchese I6266;

Use statement bags to punctuate your outfit, but not at the
sacrifice of practicality.  This mini
satchel by 3.1 Philip Lim is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. It's just large enough to stow
away your phone, camera, and lipstick, and has a convenient cross-body strap to boot. 3.1 Philip Lim Leopard Pashli Mini Satchel;

New York is a vibrant, fashionable but—let’s face it—dirty city. Whether it’s spilling coffee
on your blouse during your commute to a show or getting lipstick on your
collar, a whole list of things can go wrong while you’re romping around
town. Prep for those situations by keeping the super compact and convenient
Tide Pods around.  Each
pack equals one load of laundry. Another great thing about the city: You’re never more
than a block away from a laundromat. Tide

With all the street style shooting during Fashion Week, we all want to show off the best of our wardrobe, but trust us—you will not have time to try on a dozen outfits the morning of. Make it to the shows on time and in style by sticking to chic classics with a contemporary twist, like this whimsical button-down by Uniqlo. Uniqlo Women Cotton Lawn Print Long Sleeve Shirt; $29.90; at uniqlo.com

For the vision-impaired among us, give your eyes a break
from drying contact lenses and use this week as an opportunity to show off some
seriously stylish frames. The Downing frames by Warby Parker in walnut tortoise
are totally chic and versatile enough to go with any and every outfit. Warby Parker Downing Frames; $95; at warbyparker.com

Let’s face it, at several points during the week you're going to feel utterly exhausted, but you don’t have to look it. Carry around a freshening skincare item like Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, a weightless, spritzing moisturizer that’ll keep you feeling and looking refreshed at every event. Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist; $48; at barneys.com
