Singer, model, YouTube star, makeup artist—there isn’t much Miss Fame doesn’t do these days. The 30-year-old drag queen, originally from Templeton, California, made a big splash starring on Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Now she has over 136,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel, where she shares her expert tips on contouring and mastering old-school glamour.
She’s also fresh off the release of her debut music album, titled Beauty Marked, over the summer. The blonde bombshell took a few minutes out of her busy schedule to talk about mastering her gorgeous old-Hollywood look.
How would you describe your style? What’s your approach to dressing?
Supermodel of the ’90s meets the Golden Age of Hollywood. Dressing is all about how things fit. For example, I believe that a dress should hit the knee or accentuate my best features.
Who inspires your style?
I’m obsessed with Linda Evangelista and the “trinity” [supermodels] of the ’90s and any blond bombshell from the ’50s. I also love Thierry Mugler.
How would you define New York City style?
Very edgy and constantly evolving. It feels eclectic and like a mix of old-meets-new with a lot of vintage pieces paired with current fashion trends.
What are some of your favorite stores in the city?
I go makeup shopping. I don’t shop for clothes that much, but I’ve actually just taken an interest in vintage shopping thanks to my dear friend Violet Chachki. I respect and love her aesthetic.
Most of the time I have dresses created to fit my body. A lot of pieces I wear are from a designer name Garo Sparo in the East Village who does amazing couture-fit pieces that bring out the best in my frame.
