If you asked me a year ago about my opinion on baby-size bags, I probably would have protested. For a long time, giant carryall purses ruled my wardrobe. I’m talking huge: Laptops, notebook, pens, and snacks were just a few things that lived inside.
But I have to admit, I’ve been blind to the joy that carrying a weightless handbag promotes, and the Spring 2016 runways have fully convinced me that micro-styles are my new love. The pint-size accessories were very present in a variety of colors, shapes, and textures, from Chloe to Gucci.
In addition to the freedom that comes with toting a feather-light bag, you’re also able to have more fun with styles that might seem OTT when rendered larger—a bright yellow fur clutch is adorable, but a similar style as a top-handle or tote could seem overwhelming.
If you’re really looking to have some fun, try layering a few mini bags a la Anna Dello Russo, who recently was spotted carrying not one but three, all embellished with charms, silk scarves, and fur puffs. Downsizing never looked so cool.
