Buckle Up: Netflix’s Buzzy True-Crime Show ‘Making a Murderer’ Is Coming

Just in time for Netflix-and-chill season, the streaming service is set to release a new show—and it’s a goodie. Titled Making a Murderer, the 10-part documentary series covers all the intense, fascinating details surrounding the death of photographer Teresa Halbach and whether the Wisconsin man charged for her murder, Steven Avery, is in fact guilty.

Here are the case details that have us hooked already: Avery spent 18 years in jail for sexual assault but was released after DNA evidence proved he was innocent. Two years after he was exonerated, Avery was accused of murder—charges that conveniently get the Manitowoc Country Sheriff’s Department out of a looming wrongful-conviction and incarceration lawsuit.

Judging by the trailer released today, Making a Murderer is going to be full-on, so prepare to be gripped by the documentary in the same way that true-crime programs like the addictive Serial podcast and HBO’s The Jinx had you hooked.

All 10 episodes will be available for streaming December 18, but in the meantime, here’s the trailer:
