It goes without saying that Channing Tatum is a very good stripper. He did it for a living before he became an actor; then he became an actor and did it for a role; now he’s doing a bit of both, starring in “Magic Mike Live” in Vegas. And to tease Ellen DeGeneres‘ new season, she teamed with Tatum’s wife, Jenna Dewan Tatum, along with Chrissy Teigen and Olivia Munn—and Oprah!—to star in their very own take on the whole thing, called “Magic Michelle.” And it is amazing.
“Magic Mike was a huge, huge hit—so big that they’re actually doing an all-female reboot, because, you know, they’re doing that with everything,” DeGeneres said. “They did Ghostbusters and Ocean’s Eleven and thanks to Channing, I get to show you the exclusive sneak peek.”
The video introduces the “strippers,” including Munn as “Honeydew,” Dewan Tatum as “Peppermint,” Teigen as “Linda Peterson,” and DeGeneres as “Magic Michelle.” The catch is that they’re all terrible, terrible strippers. Munn has a serious fail; Dewan Tatum lets us know that she’s not doing this to pay for school—”I already have a Ph.D.”; Teigen clumsily slides down a stripper pole, hitting the floor with a thud; and DeGeneres “strips” in a blonde wig (and fake boobs). All to Ginuwine’s “Pony,” obvs.
Perhaps the best part is when Oprah (OK, Oprah’s face superimposed on someone else’s body) comes out and does a full split in go-go boots, booty shorts and a corset top. Work!
As the announcer puts it, “They’ve got all the right moves—and a two-and-a-half-star rating on Yelp.”
BTW, season 14 of “The Ellen Degeneres Show” starts Tuesday, and Tatum, Winfrey, and Simone Biles will all be guests.
