How Kendall Jenner Went from Typical Teen Model to Supermodel

When we first saw a shy Kendall Jenner on Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2007, we had no way of predicting the quiet, timid 11-year-old would one day become a real-deal supermodel, walking runways for the likes of Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, and Dolce & Gabbana.

We first started to take notice of the budding model in 2011, when she walked the Spring 2012 runway for prom designer Sherri Hill in a small show during New York Fashion Week. Like any newbie, Kendall’s runway persona started off shaky and unsure—her eyes were a tad deer-in-headlights, her walk a bit wobbly, her expression a little vacant. And can you blame her? Any “newborn” supermodel has to learn walk before she can strut.

From there, the brunette did some other teenage-targeted modeling with little sis Kylie, but things took a mega turn when Marc Jacobs tapped Kendall to walk in his Spring 2014 show during New York Fashion Week—a move some speculated had more to do with her headline-generating prowess than it did with her model chops, but needless to say, Kendall never looked back.

After watching her dominate almost every major runway during the last round if shows, we can see that her confidence is (justly) sky-high. She’s got fire in her eyes and a clear sense of purpose in her walk. Sure, her legs might’ve started off a bit tentative, but these days, they strut their stuff down runways with a powerful presence Kendall should be proud of—and she’s just getting started.
