Jennifer Lopez—sporting her best businesswoman attire—delivered a love-your-ass PSA today in the form of a dramatic reading of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back,” as part of W magazine’s ongoing series. (Kristin Wiig and Seth Rogen reading “Hotline Bling”: classic.)
“Some brothers wanna play that hard role and tell you that the butt ain’t gold,” Lopez begins. As she reads the famous lyrics from printer paper that resembles a script, she intones her own twist on their playfulness, delivering them the way a poet might speak her couplets at a reading—or an actress might try out some lines at an audition. The forebear of supersize butts—Lopez’s butt was reportedly insured way before anyone even knew who Kim Kardashian was—J. Lo is the perfect mouthpiece for encouraging women to embrace their rounded derrieres.
“So, ladies, if the butt is round,” she concludes, “and you want a triple-X throwdown, dial 1-900-MIXALOT, and kick them nasty thoughts.” Pause for effect. “Baby got back.”
