Every year, People magazine makes a big show of unveiling who they’ve chosen as the World’s Most Beautiful Woman. Last year, it was Sandra Bullock, the year before that Lupita Nyong’o, and the year before that was Gwyneth Paltrow (to the world’s collective surprise). For 2016, the honor went to none other than Jennifer Aniston.
Given the Kardashian-saturated world we live in, choosing the Hollywood vet might seem like a surprise, but it makes sense, given that People typically chooses stars who aren’t only easy on the eyes but also are women of substance, are heavily in the public consciousness, and have major mass appeal—and, lately, who are in their 30s and late 40s, likely the magazine’s demographic.
In the issue, Jen—who’s promoting the new ensemble movie “Mother’s Day”—shares her thoughts on beauty, saying she feels her best when she’s healthy and strong. “It’s funny, it’s a really quick transition from not a care and now all of a sudden, we’ve got to really be mindful of what we put inside our bodies,” she said. “And how we sleep and take care of ourselves. You can get away with a lot in your 20s.” Known for her ultra-healthy diet, the actress now confesses, “I’m not as strict as I was. It was always sort of a monitored watch. Then I thought, just give yourself moderation.”
The 47-year-old also talked beauty to Vogue this month about her “less is more” approach to beauty, so it’s hard not to wonder if a campaign or collaboration of some sort is imminent.
