In the wake of infidelity rumors sparked by the endlessly juicy Lemonade, Beyoncé hit the town in NYC last night after the Met Gala in a pair of silver sequin palazzo pants and a slinky black tank—solo. Jay Z was nowhere to be seen from dusk (when the festivities began uptown) till dawn (when they finally began to draw to a close downtown).
Her red-carpet appearance this year was a far cry from that of 2014, when she and Jazzy famously made photographers wait an additional hour so they could be the last ones in—and when Bey “dropped” her Lorraine Schwartz ring, Jay found it and staged a mock proposal. (She said … yes.) But the couple, married eight years, pulled nothing of the sort last night. (Then again, later that night, the infamous Elevator Incident of 2014 occurred, so there’s that.)
As we all know, she’s “so reckless” when she rocks her “Givenchy dress” (shout-out, “Formation”), as she did last night, and though she was certainly not in middle-fingers-up mode (her new fave) at the Met or afterward, she definitely tossed back some bubbly and had a good time without her beau.
The pop star hit at least two after-parties postgala, stopping first at the Gilded Lily and then at the Up and Down with her stylist and bodyguard in tow, as E! reports. At the Lily, hosted by Balmain and Olivier Rousteing, she cozied up to the designer and chilled with sister Solange Knowles, music director Alan Ferguson (Solange’s husband), Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West, E! says. At Up and Down, she sipped a cocktail and sang along to the tunes alongside her former choreographer Jonte’ Moaning.
From what we can tell, Beyoncé didn’t seem too concerned about Jay’s absence. In fact, she proved yet again that she has a sense of humor by posting only a single shot from the night—taken in what appeared to be an elevator, harking back to that fateful fight. As usual, the queen has the last word.
