Not since the Von Trapp family has there been such outcry about whether “curtain couture” is actually fashionable.
The heated debate stemmed from what One Direction’s Harry Styles wore to last night’s American Music Awards—a black-and-white floral-print suit from Gucci’s Spring 2016 collection (which, by the way, we totally dug for its ’70s vibes).
But, because of the Internet, everyone’s a critic. Many would-be sartorialists pointed out that the pattern of the suit was quite similar to a $40 Ikea duvet. Or their grandma’s dusty drapes.
Whether or not you thought Styles actually lived up to his name, you have to admit that the toile-esque print is kind of awesome, not only for a fun red-carpet event like the AMA’s, but as an unexpected way to play with pattern and print in your home.
True, the floral pattern isn’t for the fashion timid, but it’s also a surprisingly chic addition with which to kick up your decor game. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite Styles-style patterns, helpful for when you want to construct a shrine to your favorite fashion-forward One Direction member.
