Golden Globes Top Trends: Shades of Red, Blush Tones, And Lots Of Cleavage

Stars of both the big and small screen converged at the 70th Annual Golden Globe awards, and while the first big question of the evening was who would take home a statuette, “what will they wear?” was obviously a close second.

For the most part, the night’s fashion didn’t disappoint, though the wow factor was kept to a relative minimum. A few clear red-carpet trends emerged, including the night’s two big colors, which happened to be on opposite sides of the spectrum: Jennifer Lawrence, Zooey Deschanel, Claire Danes, and Marion Cotillard all chose vibrant shades of red, while others—including Megan Fox, Kerry Washington and Jennifer Lopez—opted for  more demure variations of blush.

In terms of silhouette, both strapless and backless gowns made a predictable splash, but there was one seemingly ubiquitous cut that we didn’t expect to see en masse: the plunging neckline. It’s not an exaggeration to say  we were floored by the sheer number of starlets who opted for sexed-up, deep necklines, including Katherine McPhee , Jessica Chastain and Allison Williams—all of whom seemed to have relied heavily on an abundance of double-stick tape in sternum-showing gowns.
