Even if you’re not a die-hard fan of Gilmore Girls, you’re probably aware that the mother-daughter dramedy—which aired on what’s now the CW network—is one of those enduring shows that has the power to turn grown women into shrieking teens, so it’s big news that new episodes are being created.
According to TV Line, the series is getting the Netflix treatment, with four 90-minutes episodes written by original creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino.
While casting hasn’t been confirmed yet, it seems most key characters will be returning, including—of course—Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel).
This is a big deal not just because, uh … hello, Gilmore Girls! It’s also exciting because the show faced backlash from fans for its less than satisfying ending, a result of Sherman-Palladino’s early exit due to a contract dispute. So now we’ll maybe (probably) get the finale we’d been hoping for.
