George and Amal Clooney adopted a shelter dog, because they weren’t quite perfect enough yet.
On Wednesday, the couple visited the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society in San Gabriel, California, to meet Millie, a four-year-old basset hound that, according to the shelter’s website, was found homeless and looking for food scraps outside a local restaurant earlier this month. “Today her luck changed for the better when she was adopted by George and Amal Clooney,” reads the post on the site. #LuckiestDogEver.
The Clooneys, apparently already looking for a basset hound, found Millie via the search engine Petfinder and headed to the humane society to meet her in person, bringing along their adopted cocker spaniel, Louie, to see how the two would interact.
“They did a ‘meet and greet’ with her and spent time introducing her to their other rescue, a cocker spaniel named Louie,” the post continued. “It was good news that Millie and Louie hit it off, and the happy new family headed home together! We hope Millie will stay in touch and send photos. Congratulations to the Clooney family, and thank you for adopting!”
We’d like to add congratulations to Millie as well—landing parents like George and Amal (not to mention a part-time residence in Lake Como) is a pretty sweet deal.
