Following Derek Lam’s departure, there’s a new Creative Director of Tod’s. Meet Alessandra Facchinetti, the former Gucci, Valentino, and Topshop Uniqueness designer, who now has the top job at one of the biggest names in Italian fashion.
Tod’s Group president Diego Della Valle said of the appointment: “Her passion for detail and her dedication to the research of materials and manufacturing make her perfect for our brand, which has always been very attentive to quality and Made in Italy.”
Facchinetti shared: “As an Italian designer, I feel very honored to take up such an important role for a brand.”
She will unveil her first collection for Tod’s at a runway show on Sept. 20 at the Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea in Milan. Expect it to be one hot ticket. Not only has Tod’s never staged a runway show, everyone wants to know the impact that Facchinetti will have on this treasured Italian brand. We are certainly wondering what impact she will have on the brand’s driving moccasins, aren’t you?
