No doubt about it, this has been Drake‘s year. From dropping a surprise album to basically owning pop culture with his meme-worthy “Hotline Bling” video (and still finding time to make diss tracks about Meek Mill), Aubrey Drake Graham has been busy making a name for himself and The 6.

However, Drake wasn’t always Champagne Papi or even Drizzy for that matter; we remember a time when he was the mild-mannered Jimmy Brooks from Degrassi: The Next Generation and the sensitive new rapper that Lil Wayne signed to Young Money. As Drake’s career has evolved, so have his style choices—from preppy pastel button-downs to bona fide streetwear—and he’s proved that he has a versatile range in both fashion and talent.

Before there was Drake, there was Aubrey Graham, and more importantly, there was Degrassi's easygoing Jimmy Brooks in this pastel button-down.

Drake in a black hoodie—the picture that launched a thousand memes.

Drake releases his feelings-filled mixtape, So Far Gone, and wears a Play by Commes de Garçons cardigan to show us that he not only wears his heart on his sleeve but also on his sweaters.

Drake loves a good varsity jacket, variations of which make multiple appearances, including in his "Best I Ever Had" video.

Started from the bottom, now we here. Drake parties for his 25th birthday at Tao in Las Vegas.

Hello, Champagne Papi! Drake debuts a new, more sartorially adventurous look while on tour.

No new friends, right, Drake? We'd be the same if we were hanging out with Diddy and Rick Ross.

Drake is the ultimate NJB in his flannel and OVO snapback. Mazel!

Casually sitting with his woes, front row at NYFW, NBD.
