One of my favorite things to do is wander around a store and find items to reinvent for a DIY project. I was recently looking for some bookends for my desk that would double as a pen/pencil holder. I was not finding exactly what I wanted, so I decided to get creative.

After perusing each section, I emerged with two toothbrush holders and four cork coasters. When combined, they created the perfect bookends, with slots for my writing supplies and my beloved succulents, plus a bonus memo board for daily reminders! Steps and supplies below.

What you do:
Step 1: Glue the cork coasters to the front and back of the toothbrush holders using E6000. Let dry.
Step 2: Plant a succulent in one side of each container.
Step 3: Fill each planter with white gravel to give the bookend more weight.
Step 4: Add your writing utensils, and prop up your books with a holder on each side.
