Sometimes, having a first date over dinner can be, well, intimidating. They can be exceedingly long and you can totally encounter the awkward interview-like vibe (which, let’s just be honest, isn’t all that enjoyable). After doing a brief and casual office poll, it appears that the latest trend to spring up is the brunch date.
Providing a bit more of a causal atmosphere, acceptable boozing (within reason!), and a quicker meal, we can totally see why this would be more appealing than the traditional dinner. But, this also presents a whole other set of outfit questions: heels or flats? Mini or maxi?
Here, we devised the perfect brunch date outfit to kick it off on the right foot — these pieces are guaranteed to impress!
Heading to a brunch date this weekend? Check out our suggestions of what to wear to charm the socks (and maybe more) off of your date.

Curate a look that's light and flirty. We love this soft pink blouse that's showing just the right amount of skin.
Blouse With Scallops and Laser Cutting, $49.71, at Asos
Just because you're not being super dressy, doesn't mean that you can incorporate some color! Don't go overboard though, use a thin belt to get your colorful message across.
Maison Boinet Belt With Clip And Buckle, $95, at Opening Ceremony
Save your maxi dresses for a lunch with the girls. Although brunch can mean you're a bit more on the laid back side, don't get sloppy We love a simple little skirt (that's not too short).
Starry Chiffon Skirt, $68, at Nasty Gal
Keep your accessories to a minimum for this excursion -- you can amp up the statement jewelry for date number two.
Jules Smith Wrapped Up Tube Jellies, $29, at Shopbop
Keep it casual -- leave the heels at home. We suggest a basic ballet flat that's subtly girly and goes with just about everything.
Koko Soft Leather Ballet Pumps, $80, at Topshop
If all goes well, you might be spending a leisurely afternoon with your date -- be sure to bring a tote that provides enough space for your essentials.
Francine Park Avenue Tote, $129.99, at Zappos
We think these sunglasses are all-around awesome, but would look particularly cute with this outfit. Try on some retro-shaped frames for a fun update!
First Lady Sunglasses, $18, at Urban Outfitters
We love necklaces that give just the right dose of juxtaposition to uber-feminine button-downs. Frame your collar with a contrasting and edgier option.
Curved Pyramid Mini Necklace, $175, at Alex & Chloe
