Chanel Fall 2009 Couture

Elizabeth

When it comes to couture the name to watch has been and always will be Chanel. This season, Karl Lagerfeld was said to be inspired by the idea of floating panels for the collection. These floating panels showed up on the backs of skirts and dresses with short hemlines. Don’t call them trains though, according to Karl, “Trains sounds pretentious.” Most of the collection was sensible and somewhat subdued, while absolutely gorgeous. The eveningwear was particularly inspired with sequined dresses in kaleidoscopic colors.

As always Lagerfeld reinvented his little black dresses as well as the classic tweed suit. Set to a backdrop of oversized Chanel No. 5 bottles, the collection was a Lagerfeld-lover’s dream.
