Any celebrity wedding can steal a few headlines, but for the event to really go down in history, it’s usually up to the bride–or, more specifically, her dress.

From the untraditional to the traditional, the world’s most memorable wedding looks have commanded our respect, not only for their craftsmanship and attention to detail, but also because of the one-of-a-kind styling. Think: Bianca Jagger‘s timeless YSL skirt suit for her and Mick Jagger‘s Saint Tropez nuptials in 1971 or Olivia Palermo‘s cashmere sweater, tulle skirt, and matching shorts by Carolina Herrera, which she wore in lieu of a traditional dress.

On the other end of the spectrum, there’s Kate Middleton‘s exquisite Alexander McQueen dress, designed by creative director Sarah Burton, or Amal Alamuddin‘s Oscar de la Renta gown—both gorgeous, but a far cry from Gwen Stefani‘s pink John Galliano gown.

And yet we love them all—some for their simple, understated nature and some for their in-your-face-never-gonna-forget-it-splendor. So, read on for 30 celebrity wedding dresses that will go down in fashion history.
