Move over, Taylor Swift and your posse of models.
In case you weren’t sure that Madonna is still indeed the world’s reigning pop star, check this out: She tapped Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Miley, Nicki Minaj and Rita Ora —a.k.a. the biggest female pop divas on the planet—for one epic music video titled, Bitch, I’m Madonna, debuting Wednesday at 10 a.m. on Tidal.
An exclusive peek aired on GMA this morning where you see Madge rocking bright pink hair, Miley with glitter-bombed eyeshadow, and quick cameos from fashion bestie Alexander Wang and producer Diplo. From what we saw, the video looks like a twerk-filled, confetti-throwing, candy-coated acid trip.
The 56-year-old icon posted a teaser clip of the song last night, getting fans psyched for this morning’s premiere:
The video clip followed another Instagram post of a promo flyer for the video that announced her co-conspirators Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, and Rita Ora.
Um, remind you of anything?
Video coming soon! Just tryin to make it perfect for all of you ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️😄❤️😓❤️😁 we are hard werking bitches! #bitchimmadonna A photo posted by Madonna (@madonna) on Jun 16, 2015 at 12:57am PDT
Swift fans have been quick to speak up about how much they think this promo art and mega-star collab feels like a Bad Blood copycat, but there’s so much production behind this project it’s probably more likely that Madonna has had this developing behind the scenes well before she knew about Taylor’s cameos. Let’s also remember that Madonna’s song is a collaboration with other singers, whereas Taylor’s video was a song all her own that she set to a backdrop of her hot Hollywood BFFs.
Either way, both queens of pop have set a new bar for music videos, and we can’t wait to see what comes next. Tune into Tidal at 10 a.m. to see all the madness.
