After an awards season full of serious sartorial hits and major misses on the red carpet, the hotly anticipated Oscars were tonight. Naturally, they brought out all of Hollywood’s big names from nominees like Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway to previous Oscar winners like Halle Berry and Charlize Theron.
While we were impressed with some of starlets’ gown choices for the big night, we can’t help but feel that some of our favorite A-listers definitely could have stepped it up—from Jennifer Lawrence’s haute couture Dior gown to Naomi Watts’ glittery Armani Prive dress.
Check out all the looks for yourself in the gallery above, and let us know who looked the best (and worst!) on Hollywood’s biggest night.

Jennifer Lawrence delivered one of her strongest red carpet showings of awards season in this Dior gown. As the new face of the brand's Miss Dior handbag line, we knew she'd be clad in the label, and we weren't disappointed by her choice, though many thought it was a tad bridal.

Charlize Theron showed off her cropped 'do and outrageously toned body in Dior Couture. An expected choice given her relationship with the brand, but she knocked it out of the park.

Despite initial reports that she would be wearing Valentino (one of her favorite designers), Anne Hathaway wore a pale pink satin Prada dress that failed to make a statement. However, her Tiffany & Co. jewels were stellar.

Halle Berry may not have broken ground in this Versace dress, but she looked sexy and "Bond girl chic," which she told designer Donatella Versace she was going for.

Helen Hunt looked chic in a dress by—wait for it!—custom H&M. Her ensemble wasn't all affordable though, she accessorized it with $750,000 of diamonds.

Naomi Watts nailed it in a very original Armani dress, looking like a true movie star.

Amanda Seyfried's custom Alexander McQueen gown was perfectly suited to her complexion, but her hair failed to deliver.

Salma Hayek looked absolutely stunning in Alexander McQueen, giving the red carpet a dose of serious A-list glamour.

We predicted that Jennifer Aniston would wear red Valentino, and she obviously did. There was nothing groundbreaking here, but she looked like a seasoned A-lister on the red carpet.

For her second straight Oscars appearance as George Clooney's trophy girlfriend, Stacy Keibler wore a metallic Naeem Khan dress. Her style game is definitely improving thanks to her stylist Brad Goreski.

9-year-old Quvenzhane Wallis looked positively adorable in blue Armani, paired with her trademark puppy purse.

Jennifer Garner accompanied her husband Ben Affleck in a purple Gucci gown that fit her like a glove and looked stunning.

Sandra Bullock made a safe choice with this Elie Saab dress.

Nicole Kidman looked her best this awards season in a sequined L'Wren Scott frock.

Kristen Stewart made an awkward red carpet appearance thanks to a recent injury which left her on crutches, but she still looked glamorous (although uncomfortable) in Reem Acra.

After her stunning turn at the Grammys, Kelly Rowland hit the red carpet in a black and white Donna Karan Atelier dress that paid homage to Angelina Jolie's trendsetting leg slit at last year's awards.

Amy Adams made a completely predictable choice with this ruffled Oscar de la Renta frock that was neither here nor there.

While we weren't completely crazy about Giuliana Rancic's Raphael Cennamo gown, it was relatively subdued for the "Fashion Police" host, who looked much better thanks to her lack of hair extensions.

"Fashion Police" host Kelly Osbourne chose an unflattering black Tony Ward Couture dress that left us questioning why we should listen to her opinions on the red carpet.

"Les Miserables" star Samantha Barks showed a bit of skin on the red carpet that seemed more appropriate for the Golden Globes, but she still killed it in black Valentino.

Kerry Washington's Miu Miu dress was one of the most praised of the night, and the actress did look exceptional in the coral ensemble.

"Zero Dark Thirty" star Jessica Chastain went for an old Hollywood glam look in Armani Privé—and completely succeeded.

Zoe Saldana stunned in an Alexis Mabille dress, which was one of the most dynamic choices of the night.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum showed off her growing baby bump in a black lace dress, perfectly suited to her frame.

Catherine Zeta-Jones went for a form-fitting gold Zuhair Murad frock, and while it was a completely expected look, she was perfectly appropriate for the Oscars.

Jane Fonda is 75 and looking better than ever, and she was beyond memorable in this canary yellow Valentino dress.

Helena Bonham Carter rocked a dress from Vivienne Westwood that garnered a lot of online hate, but let's face it: This is her style to a tee.

Olivia Munn wore a relatively unimpressive Marchesa gown, but her hair and makeup made up for it.

Octavia Spencer has dressing her figure down pat, and she looked elegant in Tadashi Shoji, a designer she often wears.
