Weight Watchers Recap: Weeks 3, 4 & 5


I am by far the worst Weight Watcher on the planet. Oh I watch my weight alright. I watch it pile onto my hips.

I haven’t given up yet and I’m still going to weigh in every week every other week but I find it hard to attend meetings. In my brain I’m blaming my bleak meeting attendance on the fact that I can’t stand to sit through 45 minutes of listening to the leader talk in her Rhode Island accent (cringe). But in reality I’d just rather go in, get weighed and then go shopping with The Donna instead of listening to how much water I should be drinking.

In any case, here is my progress report for weeks 3, 4 and 5. I have to warn you, it’s not pretty.

Week 3:

I didn’t weigh in for week 3 because I ate like a heifer all week. Week 3 started off with me ordering a strawberry frosted donut from Dunkin’ Donuts with my medium iced coffee cream no sugar on Tuesday. I’m not going to lie, I have a weakness for donuts. If I could eat donuts all the time and not weigh a metric ton I would. They are just too delicious for words.

After that it was down hill

Then later that day there was a birthday party for a girl at my office which meant cake. I had a piece of cake during lunch, then a sliver around 4pm that same day. Because the cake was so big there were left-overs. My office is across from the kitchen.

Danger factor.

To make matters worse, the girl who we purchased the cake for was out of the office on Friday so I just figured that I’d polish off her cake for her. I mean, we didn’t want it going to waste over the weekend now did we? So yes, I devoured someone else’s birthday cake.

A strawberry frosted donut coupled with copious amounts of cake eventually lead to copious amounts of wine over the weekend. I figured my week was already shot so might as well drink, right?

Week 4:

Miraculously I stayed the same when I weighed in on week 4. I didn’t lose anything but since my diet consisted mostly of cake 7 days prior I could deal with being at a plateau.

Week 5:

I managed to go for two walks with my mother this week and abstain from all things cake and donuts yet when I weighed in last Saturday I had gained 1.6lbs.

I was kind of bummed but not really. Gaining 1.6lbs was manageable and I know that I could lose double that if I just upped the work out ante during week 6.

So now I’m in week 6. I’m trying to be conscious of my diet and how many 100 calorie packs of Lorna Doone cookies I consume.
