The Ridiculously Simple Instagram Trick That’ll Change Your Selfie Game

Makeup artist Patrick Ta‘s client roster is so good, it’s almost laughable: Gigi Hadid, Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Alba, Jenna Dewan Tatum, and every member of the Kardashian-Jenner crew keep the pro on speed dial. With 301,000 followers, he’s got some serious Instagram cred too—and now he’s revealed the secret to the goddess-y glow his girls sport all over his feed.

Ta’s trick has nothing to do with his makeup prowess (OK, it might have something to do with it); it’s a simple Instagram filter that casts a warm, super-flattering light on his iPhone snaps. Ta told Glamour that all he does is tweak the red levels, which you’ll find hidden under the Color category in the editing options you can access by tapping the wrench icon.

Increasing the reddish tint just a little makes the photo look subtly richer and bronzier—which, in the case of a selfie or headshot, has the same radiance-enhancing effect on your skin. So smart … and so much more believable than our beloved Ludwig filter.
