A clever new app is allowing women to refill their birth control subscription from a smartphone, and have it delivered within 24 hours. Called Nurx, the health application is good for anyone using pills, patches, or rings as contraception from over 30 different brands. Even better: It’s free for anyone with insurance, and if you’re uninsured fees begin at $15.
To get started, users are asked to enter some basic information about their insurance and answer a few standard questions about your health. Next, a doctor reviews the form and will get back to you with any follow-up questions, then send your details to a pharmacy. You only have to do this once, and afterwards you can receive easily refills that will last you for three months.
Right now the new service is only operating in California, but they’re currently expanding to New York, Washington, D.C., Illinois, and Washington state, with an eye to be available across the country really soon.
Obviously, keeping your birth control script up-to-date can become an annoying chore, making this app a super convenient and very welcome health innovation. Sign us up.
