We’re the type of beauty junkie that could sit and talk about our latest product obsessions for hours on end – even if it is what we do all day during working hours. So, when we recently met Newby Hands, the new beauty director for Net-a-Porter’s Porter magazine and The Edit, we had to know what she keeps in her bag at all times—considering she’s often on-the-go.

Hands has been in the beauty business for many years – previously as the Beauty Director-at-Large for Harper’s Bazaar UK as well as the Content Director for online retailer Feelunique. In all of these position she has honed her product testing skills – and she knows when a product is a must-have.  With Net-a-Porter she is fortunate enough to work at a site that gets to see a constant flow of globally renowned products through their doors, but they work to trim them down to the top of the crop – the edit, if you wish. So, when she says something really is her tried and true, we believe it.

Her Skin Go-To’s:
Yves Saint Laurent ‘Le Teint Saharienne’ Blur Perfector: “I put it on with my fingers and it’s almost like a blur for your skin with a bit of color, and it gets rid of any shine but in a velvety way, not in an oily way.”

Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow: “No surprise here. Half my bag is filled with her products.”

Tom Ford Eye Primer and Powder: “I just use the primer on my eyelid from this, and ages ago Terry de Gunzburg said that English girls and American girls tend to go out with nothing on their eyelids, and if you just put something on –  concealer or primer or any of those things – it just looks a bit more polished, and this does it for me.”

Eye Must-Haves:
Aerin Mascara: “So much of my stuff now is Aerin, I love this mascara. I noticed recently that I have almost as much Aerin in my bag as I do Charlotte Tilbury – and it just snuck in there. The wand is just an old-fashioned, big, velvety brush and it just gets through all of the lashes.”

Aerin Eyelight Concealer: “Again, Aerin. This is a new eyelight concealer, it just came out. And it’s so worth it.”

Makeup Staples:
NARS Christopher Kane Blush in Soft Beige: “I love this NARS powder, but of course it was limited edition.”

Burberry Effortless Kohl Eyeliner: “A classic. And truly effortless.”
