A woman’s hair is her crowning glory—at least according to cliché—but some fresh faces on this season’s runways are redefining the way we see beautiful hair with another adage—that less is definitely more. That’s the conclusion we came to as we spotted fresh-faced newcomers Ruth Bell and Kris Gottschalk with buzzed ’dos on catwalks this season.

Their ultra-short, almost-bald styles made them stand out in a sea of some of the most beautiful women in the world, which should be justification enough for a beauty trend.

The shaved-head trend, however, is nothing new—its fresh, edgy feel was a tenet of the fashion scene in the ’80s and ’90s, with the strong influences of punk and alternative culture. We’ve also seen the closely shorn look on supermodel MVPs like Ajak Deng and Jenny Shimizu in decades past, as well as pop-culture scions like the inimitable Amber Rose.

Here, we’ve rounded up eight gorgeous models with little no hair that have us considering a buzz cut.

Ajak Deng: Australian model Ajak Deng is known for her trademark shaved hairstyle and has fronted campaigns for Louis Vuitton and Valentino.

Jenny Shimizu: One of the edgiest models of the '90s, Shimizu is as well known for her closely shorn hair as her affair with Angelina Jolie. She's currently married to fashion scion Michelle Harper.

Braina Laviena: Laviena rose to fame in the fashion world after being cast as one of the primary faces of Kanye West's first Yeezy collection for Adidas Originals.

Amber Rose: Quite possibly the most high-profile bald model (she describes herself as a "bald-headed scallywag" and "bad bitch"), Rose is also a proud feminist, author, and probably the only person who can shut down Kanye West with a single tweet.

Grace Bol: Originally hailing from Sudan, Bol is one of fashion's favorite runway models, walking for labels like Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, and Balenciaga.

Tamy Glauser: Glauser got her start by walking for a newly appointed Nicolas Ghesquiere at Louis Vuitton, but has since taken the fashion world by storm. Also significant—she's in her 30s, a rare occurrence for most models.

Kris Gottschalk: Gottschalk, a German model, got her big break in fashion when she buzzed her hair after a motorcycle accident. Her short cut shows her scars from the incident, but it's helped become her trademark.

Ruth Bell: Bell is undeniably one of the models of the moment, and thanks to her very short hairstyle, it's definitely not hard to spot her in a campaign or on the runway. Her twin sister is also a model, named May.
