#WCW: Angelina Jolie

When we think of women we admire, Angelina Jolie is the ultimate. Whether in her role as an actress, filmmaker, humanitarian or mother, Angelina is beautiful, passionate, unafraid and dedicated—and our inspiration in every possible way.

This woman has been through some serious stuff in her life, and has not only come through it, but has literally dedicated her life to saving the world. And that’s not hyperbole: She’s worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for over a decade, recently being promoted to Special Envoy; she advocates for immigration reform and education, both at home and abroad; she is a passionate crusader to end sexual violence, especially in conflict zones; and together with her husband, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation provides aide to humanitarian causes around the world. And that’s just a brief summary of some of her humanitarian work. The woman is basically a superhero.

And let’s not forget the other ways she’s changing lives: her powerful op-eds on both her choice to undergo a mastectomy in 2013 and surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes earlier in 2015 raised more awareness for breast and ovarian cancer than all the ribbons in the world. We love her for her commitment to making the world a better place though art and advocacy; that’s why Angelina Jolie is our Woman Crush Wednesday.
