The fever has passed, your sniffles are gone, but those dark circles? Yeah, they’re sticking around. Unfortunately sometimes the facial signs of a downright miserable cold stick around longer than your temperature, and if you’re like us, you want to look totally rejuvenated when you head back to work. That’s where these pro makeup tips come in. Follow these super simple tricks, and you won’t even remember you felt under the weather to begin with.

According to Celebrity Makeup Artist Sir John (who works with celebs like Beyonce and Karlie Kloss!) our skin can become drier than normal when we’re fighting a cold. He suggests fixing this by hydrating with skin care like L’Oreal Paris Hydra-Nutrition Facial Oil ($23, ulta.com) and water. If you need a nighttime suggestion that’s free of SPF, you might consider bliss fabulous drench ‘n’ quench ($38, blissworld.com), a new cream-to-water formula that’s made with 10,000 marine micro-droplets to instantly hydrate your skin.

Next, onto those vivid dark circles. If your full-coverage concealer isn’t exactly doing the trick, try layering in a product specifically designed to camouflage dark circles. Before applying your everyday formula, Sir John suggests trying a color-correcting concealer that’s either pink or orange.

He notes that he uses black eyeliner, like L’Oréal Paris Infallible Black Velvet Liner ($10, ulta.com) to help hide swelling around the eye.

Finally, Sir John says that broken capillaries around your nose may be a physical symptom post-cold. To hide these, he suggests adding a little more concealer or foundation around the nose. “After hiding these, you can then apply True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation ($17, ulta.com) all over for great coverage and a little glow,” he adds.

Stuff a few tissues in your purse (just in case), and you’ll be ready to go.
