It’s no secret that we love a good braid—and when we saw Kate Bosworth’s hair at the SAG Foundation “The Art of More” event, our hearts stopped. This inside-out plait paired with her cascading blonde waves is beyond beautiful, and we immediately needed it in our lives.

Enter superstar stylist Bridget Brager, who created this dreamy Grecian braid for Kate. “We wanted to do a ‘cool girl’ braid. Something a bit different, but not too flashy,” she told us—and we’ve got the exclusive step-by-step tutorial so that you can create this gorgeous style yourself. And the good news? It’s incredibly easy.

1. Wave.
“I started by giving her a wavy, ‘bed head’ look,” Brager told us. She did this by spritizing Sachajuan Ocean Mist ($31, Space NK) throughout Kate’s hair, then gave it a rough blow-dry. Finally, she gave a little more definition to the waves with the narrowest barrel of the T3 Whirl Trio ($270, Sephora), which is one of Bridget’s essential styling tools. “That’s all you need for lived-in waves,” she said.

2. Braid.
Bridget then deep-parted Kate’s fine hair to one side, then Dutch braided the hair down the side of her head, following her hairline. “The idea was to have the braid continuing its way down, just behind the ear and then wrapping around the nape of the neck,” Bridget told us. She secured the end of the plait with a bobby pin the same color as Kate’s hair.

3. Finish!
To finish the look, Bridget used Kevin Murphy Powder Puff ($25, Kevin Murphy) to create some volume and texture in the braid as she gently pulled it apart for a more lived-in look. And voila—the look is finished! Go out and knock ’em dead with your Pinterest-worthy plait.
