Karlie Kloss just released her first makeup tutorial on her YouTube channel, and it couldn’t be more obvious that the supermodel, baker extraordinaire, and all-around entrepreneur is not your average beauty vlogger. For one thing, how many can say that they have exalted celebrity makeup artist Sir John around to give them a helping hand?
Kloss teamed up with the L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador, who is perhaps best recognized for his work with Beyoncé, to re-create Karlie’s most recent Met Gala face. A sultry gunmetal smoky eye, poreless glowing skin, and a pinkish beige lip make for a super-soft, simple effect, but Sir John’s makeup mastery gave it a bit of edge—and now, under his tutelage, it’s a look we can all score for upcoming holiday parties.
Over the course of the six-minute video, Sir John dispenses loads of makeup wisdom, including the fact that you should always use a pencil and powder to fill in your brows, lest the color fade as the day goes on. He even divulges a lipstick trick that Beyoncé taught him. Hint: It involves making a “fish mouth.”
There’s nothing we like more than watching makeup pros do what they do best, and between Sir John’s skills and his charming rapport with backstage BFF Karlie, we can’t think of a better way to spend six minutes. We just hope our attempt at this look goes over even half as well as Sir John and Karlie make us feel like it will.
