September is National Honey Month, and while we don't normally go in for these gimmicky holidays, we can't help but want to celebrate with some of our favorite products.

In case you haven't heard, honey is an incredibly beneficial ingredient in the beauty world. Dean Paton, vice president of Golden Blossom Honey, says, "Honey has powerful hydrating properties that make it very useful in beauty treatments for skin and hair." One of our favorite honey-infused products is  Olivina Milk & Honey Body Butter ($21, olivina.com), which smells delicious and delivers much needed moisture to our skin.

Post-Vacation Fixes For Your Hair and Skin

While the thought of honey in our hair doesn't sound too appealing, Paton says, "It has also been shown to be very effective in combination as a shampoo or conditioner that enhances hair's natural shine." If your hair needs a little pick-me-up, try Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo ($9.95, lushusa.com).

How to Tame Unruly Thick Hair

Honey's antibacterial properties make it a great weapon in the fight against acne. Manuka Doctor ApiClear Skin Serum ($39.90, manukadoctor.com) combines the power of manuka honey and bee venom to keep skin clear.

These Beauty Products Aren’t Worth the Hype, Say Dermatologists

Mud masks have been around forever, but we've never experienced one as hydrating as the Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Revival Mud ($38, miracleskintransformer.com). The mask uses manuka honey, which Paton says is  a natural humectant, so it attracts and retains moisture. Long after you wash the mask off, you can still feel a barrier of moisture.

Multi-Purpose Skin Care Finds That Save You Major Money

If you want lip color that doesn't dry out lips, try Bite Beauty Honey Lip Lacquer ($24, sephora.com). The all-natural gloss uses honey to help seal in lips' moisture.

Olivia Wilde’s Lipstick is the Perfect Fall Transition Shade

If you want a head-to-toe moisturizing experience, use The Body Shop Honeymania Bath Melt ($14, thebodyshop.com). It fills your bath with moisturizing bubbles, so you don't even need to apply body lotion post-soak.

The Top 5 Skin Care Ingredients You Need to Know

Dry skin sufferers should add the Fresh Créme Ancienne Ultimate Nourishing Honey Mask ($130, fresh.com) to their beauty arsenal. It packs a whopping 38 percent pure honey, so you're getting the full benefits of the ingredient. Best of all, it melts into the skin and washes off easily, so no sticky residue is left behind.
