When MAC Cosmetics brings you a bouquet, they make it out of lipstick—and they team up with genius Giambattista Valli to do so. You can officially retract any “please buy me flowers” texts previously sent to your boyfriend, requesting that any arrangement be done with only GV-labeled beauty products.

Back in November, we learned (obsessed over the fact) that in order to celebrate 10 years of working together behind-the-scenes at fashion week shows, designer Giambattista Valli and MAC Cosmetics collaborated for an ultra feminine collection of five floral-themed lipsticks, including just about any pretty color you’d want to wear on your lips in the summer. From a black cherry to a hot pink to a pale peach, this lipstick garden is in full bloom.

“It’s very much like the DNA of my floral visual. I have always liked floral embellishments on clothes, on this idea of this woman,” the designer told us of his inspiration during an interview. “So I always like to pick up colors from the nature—that’s my kind of idea of beauty.”

With other designers and celebrities in coordination with this makeup brand giant going for bronzers (Prabal Gurung) and iridescent shadows (Brooke Shields), we were curious as to why lipstick really stood out to Giambattista Valli, the mastermind behind that tulle tiered dress Rihanna wore to the 2015 Grammy Awards.

“I think if you want to do really a revolution on your wardrobe, on your look, then lipstick can really make it,” he says. “You know, I think you can have just a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, and you throw some lipstick on it, and it makes the outfit.”

The packaging was a little more practical, but no less beautiful. While most MAC collaborations come with products you actively want to be seen—just think back to when Proenza Schouler decided to launch a bright, metallic, and ombre’d cosmetics collection with MAC–this one is unique. With the lipstick packaging decked out in the same exact shade as the actual product, there’s no guessing game of what lip shade you’ll get when you uncap the tube. “The packaging was just because I love the practical things,” he said. “I see my friends when they carry all these 3 or 4 colors in the bag, you always have to open all of them to get to the right one. And [with his new collaboration] you get right directly to it.”

The collection, which also includes a crystal glaze gloss, is set to hit select MAC locations on July 9th, giving you only a few weeks to get your hands on the color that speaks to your makeup bag.

And if you’re trying to live by the Giambattista Valli approach to cosmetics, just keep a swipe or two of these lipsticks free of any competing eye makeup.

“I never like it personally when there is eyes and lips together. I just prefer to underline one thing: your eyes or your lips. Not to have the whole thing,” he says when discussing the addition of makeup to a look. “But you know it can complete your look or it can totally change your look. That is what is magical about makeup.”

In any event, he thinks makeup has a certain power, and we couldn’t help to agree.
