After years spent writing about health, entertainment, fashion, and celebrities, I barely bat an eyelid when I hear about a model’s neurotic eating habits, but a peek inside the restrictive diet of Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen left me kind of gobsmacked earlier this month. They don’t touch stuff like caffeine, dairy, sugar, gluten, iodized salt, even fruit, for the most part. The biggest no-no, though? A food group called nightshades, that includes delicious things like tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and eggplants.
Other models such as Miranda Kerr are pretty public about their aversion to non-organic produce, and I’ve personally seen a runway star backstage peel an apple, only to eat the skin (WHY!?) and leave the actual fleshy part, and stories about editorial models dieting on tissues are infamous across the fashion industry.
Personally, I find these bizarre eating habits completely fascinating, but surely not all of my favorite models are 100 percent nuts when it comes to their diet, right?
