A good bob can’t be beat, and Emma Roberts‘s new look is everything we’ve ever wanted out of a barely shoulder-grazing cut. The “Scream Queens” actress ditched Chanel Oberlin’s long, polished waves (extensions, natch) in favor of a choppy platinum bob, and it’s perfect.

Raise your hand if you have a very similar haircut … and raise your other hand if it never looks as good as this. Yeah—us, too. The key is in using the right products and tools, because unless you were the miracle baby born with hair that came perfectly tousled just so, this style tends not to be wash-and-go.

Our recommendation? Start off with a body-boosting mousse, like Living Proof Full Thickening Mousse ($26), on damp hair to build a foundation with some hold. Air-dry or blow-dry with a round brush, then wrap chunky sections around a curling wand for just a few seconds to get a bit of bend and movement in the front. Then just give it a bit of a tousle with Davines This Is a Medium Hold Pliable Paste ($28), and go rule the school.
