Speedy Day-To-Night Makeup Tips

Shannon Farrell

It’s 6 p.m. and you’re about to head over to happy hour with the gals, or better yet, you’re meeting up with that special someone you’ve been talking to incessantly the past few weeks. You look in the mirror to check your hair and makeup. Your curls are still in place, but your makeup…well it doesn’t quite look like it did when you left the house. We’re here to help. Check out our video on how to get a quick fix nighttime look.

Products I Used:

1. Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara
I always try to avoid reapplying mascara because my lashes usually end up all clumpy. Instead, I use a bold mascara, such as Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara ($32, Sephora.com), in the morning that works for day and night and lasts over 12 hours.

2. Evian Facial Spray
This spray ($7, Neimanmarcus.com) hydrates your skin and works as a primer to keep your makeup in place. Spray in the morning after you apply all of your makeup. Let sit for a minute and then dab away with a tissue. We also like to leave it on our desks for quick relief on a hot summer afternoon.

3. Shiseido Pureness Oil Control Blotting Paper
Use these blotting sheets (100 sheets, $18, Macys.com) after a long day to get rid of any oil or residue that may have accumulated on your face.

4. It Cosmetics No-Tug Silk Anti-Aging Waterproof Eyeliner
Because this eyeliner ($24 for set of two, QVC.com) is waterproof, you’ll have to perform less touch-ups. But even so, add a thicker line for a more dramatic nighttime look before you leave the office.

5. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow in Plum Smoke
Start your day with a neutral eyeshadow, such as Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in 93 Complice ($28.50, Chanel.com). Then blend in a darker color, like this plum ($19, Tartecosmetics.com), for your nighttime look.

6. MAC Lipstick in Matte Candy Yum-Yum
Apply a bold lipstick for added color. I love going with a bright fuschia, but an orange or red lip will also do the trick.
*This lipstick will not be available until fall.
