Every once in a while, all beauty lovers convene and collectively decide to obsess over the same thing. These products earn the “cult favorite” seal of approval: Think La Mer, Diorshow, Mason Pearson brushes. But nobody does the cult classic better than Chanel—more specifically, Chanel Vamp (though the brand really does have a way of sending fans into madness with a single product). It gained notoriety in the ’90s as the dark, blackish-red nail color preferred by Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction, and it showed up in a Madonna video too.
And now, 20 years since its original debut, Vamp is back, with an entire holiday collection inspired by the iconic shade. Called Vamp Attitude, the release includes everything from Rouge Noir, a vampy eyeshadow, to three polishes similarly adapted from their predecessor, plus a blush, two lipsticks, and more. Yes, the Vamp in question is also available, in the form of a $27 lacquer that’s sure to go fast.
That’s the thing about Vamp: It’s still covetable because it looks just as cool and contemporary now as it did two decades ago, and it even ties perfectly into the ’90s beauty renaissance we’re witnessing right this second. Somehow, we feel like that revival may have had a little something to do with the brand’s decision to bring this collection to reality. See? Discontinued-makeup dreams really do come true.
