I may live and breathe beauty, but when it comes to my personal routine, I’ve pared it down to just the essentials. Which is why I love a product that makes me look “done”– or at least reasonably presentable–but only adds seconds to my routine. The latest miracle worker? Bobbi Brown’s Longwear Cream Shadow Stick in Goldstone.

The twist-up crayon in shimmering gold metallic is a far cry from my typical safety neutrals, but after a chaotic morning of missing eye pencils, I gave it a try—and I’ve worn it every single day since. The creamy texture stays firmly in place until you take it off (which for me can mean 16 hours at a clip—it’s Fashion Week, folks) and doesn’t crease—even if you skip primer.

Plus, I’ve never gotten as many compliments on a single product as I have with this shadow. From fellow beauty editors to makeup artists backstage at Fashion Week, this is one cosmetic that everyone asks about. Plus, on those weeks where I’m constantly running between work, fashion shows and industry events with a few hours of sleep peppered in, this shadow’s been a lifesaver to help immediately brighten my eyes.

On the few occasions that I spend more than my allotted two seconds rubbing the crayon across my lids, I’ve found it’s also the ideal shape to use on my eyes’ inner corners for a highlighted hint of shine, or underneath the eye, blended along the lower lash line. Not to mention, we all know metallic is the shadow trend for fall, so why not try the easiest possible way to get it?
