As lipstick enthusiasts slash connoisseurs, there is no color family that we aren’t willing to try. We often play it safe with nudes and classic reds, but we’re just as happy to experiment with other, less traditional hues. With spring here, pastels have become our most recent lip color foray. Not all are suitable for the boardroom (unless you work in our office) but they’ll make a great addition to your off-duty makeup stash. If and when you decide to give these delicate shades a go, these are five of the best pastel lipsticks to try.
NARS Audacious Lipstick in Dominique ($32, narscosmetics.com)
The pink lilac shade of this creamy, long-wear lipstick is perfect for a day party; or a wedding; or anywhere where you plan to look your absolute best, really. You may need more than one.
NYX Cosmetics Macaron Lippie in Pistacio ($6, nyxcosmetics.com)
If pinks and purples don’t make a bold enough statement for your taste, there’s a color in NYX’s Macoron Lippe range that likely will. Our favorite? This cool mint green, which comes with a friendly price tag, to boot.
MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Saint Germain ($17, maccosmetics.com)
A classic pastel pink with a creme finish, this is one tube you’ll be inclined to reach for all year round.
Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year Matte Lipstick in Serenity ($18, sephora.com)
Having named rose quarts and serenity the colors of the year, Pantone teamed up with Sephora on a small collection inspired by the pastels. A few of the goods have already sold out, but luckily, you can still get your hands on this gorgeous, light blue lip color.
Maybelline ColorSensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick in Barely Bloomed ($6, drugstore.com)
This inexpensive drugstore find is akin to a shade you’d see in a bouquet. An infusion of honey nectar in the formula sweetens the deal.
