If there’s one huge lip trend I’m seeing for Fall, it’s matte liquid lipsticks—and I am delighted. I love a good matte lip, and when that comes in a super long-wearing formula, I am all in. But of course, not all liquid lipsticks are created equal; I’ve tried too many that leave my lips feeling dry, or adhere like cement and require a power-washer to remove.

That fate is something I want to save you from, so I’ve put together my picks for the five best matte liquid lipsticks you need for Fall. Get into these gorgeous colors and formulas now, and your lip game will never be the same.

kat von d everlasting liquid lipstick

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20, Sephora)
Kat Von D makes some supreme lip products, but these liquids are my favorite. They go on smoothly, set quickly, dry to the most PERFECT matte finish and last for actually EVER. The best part for me, as a life-long lip biter, is that Kat’s lipsticks color my lips without clinging to any dry patches in need of exfoliation—life-changing. While all of the colors are gorgeous, I especially love Melancholia (a my-lips-but-better shade of dusty pink) and Backstage Bambi (a truly vibrant pink).

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick ($24, Sephora)
The first liquid lipstick that I ever really fell for, Stila’s Stay All Day line really does live up to the hype. I own all the colors that Stila makes (and I want them to make more!) and I find them versatile, fun and extremely long wearing. The finish is a little less matte than the Kat Von Ds, but sometimes that’s what I’m in the mood for. I really love Beso, which is my dream shade of perfectly balanced red.

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick ($7, NYX Cosmetics)
I have long believed that NYX makes some of the best, most innovative stuff at the drusgtores—and this lipstick backs that up. Creamy and dreamy with a semi-matte finish, these take a while to dry down, but they’re worth it once they do. I also like to layer this on top of lip balm for a more sheer lipstick on the days I’m after something a little more low-key. I’m super into Life’s a Beach, an insanely bright coral color.

Lipstick Queen Vesuvius Liquid Lipstick

Lipstick Queen Vesuvius Liquid Lipstick ($24, Lipstick Queen)
Non-drying, high impact and with a satin finish, these liquid lipsticks may be Poppy King’s crowning achievement. The best thing about this liquid lipstick is the applicator, which is a short-bristled, totally rigid brush. This means you get a totally defined lip line with zero effort. I love Vesuvian Red, which is described as “burning scarlet red” and IS. I especially love it under clear gloss, which honestly makes my lips look like shiny plastic.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick ($20, Anastasia Beverly Hills)
Anastasia’s beauty line just keeps expanding, and every new product is better than the last—which is to say that these lipsticks are fantastic. They dry to a true matte finish, set quickly, then do not move (not even through pizza, which is my ultimate longwear lipstick test). I’m very into Sugar Plum for fall, which looked distressingly purple in the tube, but is a gorgeous pinky-berry on my lips.
