We're not sticklers for the most traditional look, but when it comes to our awards season kickoff, we also can't help but get ourselves too invested in the look of the year. We love to make a bold impression, but we also just want to look the best—which, we believe, is something we can all respect. If you can't quite put your finger on which Golden Globes nominees look the best, look absolutely no further.
Best Lob: Rosamund Pike
We always anticipate that Rosamund Pike will show up looking like the ultimate in chic, but this gorgeous, healthy-looking asymmetrical bob is what we'd like to call a plot twist.

Best Braid: Emily Blunt
While braided updos can often go wrong (too flat, too frizzy, etc.) Emily Blunt proved that when wearing a white dress, the way to go is definitely braided. With bronzed makeup and a nude lip, her double dutch braids are just oh-so-right.

Best Smokey Eye: Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington has always been at the very top of our "most covetable looks" list, but she rocks a smokey eye in a way that's unparalleled. Smudged liner, long lashes, a glowing complexion—she's got the entire look down to a science

Best Retro Look: Jessica Chastain
With her thick, naturally strawberry blonde strands tucked into a statement-making wave, Jessica Chastain showed up every retro look on the red carpet.

Best Natural Look: Julianne Moore
Perhaps it's unfair—As if Julianne Moore's stunning red locks weren't striking enough, they're covetable as ever, and her subtle smokey eye is on point.

Best Updo: Kate Hudson
We're typically accustomed to stars who choose to sport a sleek center part, but in the event of Kate Hudson, we couldn't ever have seen it coming. Regardless, the star's new look is as polished as ever.

Best Bangs: Felicity Jones
Bangs are purely subjective—they can look wonderful on one and disastrous on another, so it's a gamble every time you go for it. Felicity Jones maintains her striking look by indulging in "curtain bangs."

Best Center Part: Anna Kendrick
Enough said. Anna Kendrick wore a sleek, perfectly centered part that defied her otherwise laid-back persona. A bit of paradox? We like it.

Best Retro Look: Allison Williams Current event not withstanding, Allison Williams has always been sartorially flexible, but when it comes to her beauty look, she's stuck to the tried-and-true. With this shoulder-grazing strapless look and thick waves, we couldn't deny her the top spot in our hair awards.

Best Lipstick Look: Keira Knightley If there's any choice as difficult as deeming the best lipstick of the evening, we haven't met it yet. Keira Knightley wore a rich, berry-leaning red lip that charmed us still thanks to its natural satiny finish.
