Some people are just born into coolness, and Amber Le Bon is one of them. With Duran Duran lead singer Simon Le Bon and supermodel Yasmin Le Bon as her parents, Amber was practically bred to kill it. The model, DJ, philanthropist, and Redken global ambassador (so, the quintessential multi-hyphenate) spends most of her time in London, where she draws, takes on the town, and dresses like our dream girl.
We chatted with Amber about her daily hair, skin, and makeup routine, and prodded her to share her very best beauty secrets … and oh, did she deliver.
The first thing I do in the morning is:
“I like to use a JorgObé face scrub [available in the U.K.] in the shower followed by Saadia Organics Argan Oil to lock in the moisture of my skin. Then I do my hair and use Redken Quick Tease 15 for some volume. I like having bouncy and voluminous hair—it lightens my mood if my hair is fun. Then some light makeup goes on. At the moment, I’m loving Charlotte Tilbury The Retoucher pens and Beach Sticks.”
My go-to five-minute beauty routine includes:
“My essential beauty routine is usually very simple. If I’m not working or I’m at home, then I don’t like to wear too much makeup, and I always like to cleanse before I go to bed. I also use an argan oil on my face instead of moisturizer before I go to sleep; it helps keep my skin looking good. I usually like to accentuate my eyes, and I like doing brown, gold, or rose-gold smoky eyes. I love the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette eye quads—at the moment I’m using The Dolce Vita a lot.”
I keep my hair healthy by:
“Every other week, I’ll use the Redken Color Extend Magnetics Deep Attraction mask treatment. It’s really important to me to keep my hair healthy and to look after my color, so this is great. I get my color done every month or two to keep it looking fresh. Recently, I had it colored by the wonderful Tracey Cunningham, Redken’s celebrity colorist, who did my awesome sombré color.”
How do you usually wear your hair?
“Day to day, I typically wear it down with soft waves and a little volume. I recently discovered Spin Pins, which you spin into your hair to hold up a bun. You end up using only two because they hold so well, instead of the 14 straight pins that you’d need to do the same job.”
Which products do you always keep in your bag?
“I always keep a dry shampoo on me, like Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender—it’s the most useful thing ever. I love a great beige-y nude lipstick or lip pencil, like Burberry Lip Definer in Rosewood, some liquid eyeliner, and a brown mascara. You can’t go wrong with those.”
The best beauty tip I’ve ever received is:
“If my skin is feeling tired and overworked and like it’s about to break out, then I use Savlon Antiseptic Cream overnight like a face cream to help stop the breakout. Another model gave me this tip backstage after a show, and it’s been a lifesaver on more than one occasion.”
You’re a DJ. Do you have any recommendations for new artists to watch?
“I have a huge obsession with Years & Years. I think they’re completely brilliant.”
