Amanda Seyfried has the kind of hair every girl dreams of: It’s long, thick, shiny, the perfect shade of beige blonde, and looks just as good wavy as it does straight. Needless to say, a day hardly goes by that we don’t covet the actress’s perfect mane, but she rocked a braided hairstyle over the weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival that had us especially green with envy.
Fortunately for us, Suave Professionals Celebrity Stylist Jenny Cho, who created Amanda’s elegant ‘do for the event, shared the secrets behind attaining the look. Because you don’t need a fresh head of hair to get it right, this style is perfect for giving day (or days)-old hair a sophisticated upgrade.
Cho started by making a side part on Amanda’s dry hair before spraying a dry shampoo—Cho used Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Weightless Dry Shampoo ($3.99, drugstore.com)—at the roots and massaging a drop of smoothing oil into the ends. She then French braided each side of the hair away from Amanda’s face, eventually bringing them to meet at the back of the head. Cho finished off each braid at the nape of the neck and made two knots with the remainder of loose hair. To keep the knotted shape in place, she used a ponytail holder at the base and bobby pins throughout.
Cho finished off with a light spritz of hairspray all over, which helped to not only give the look hold but also add a subtle touch of dimensional shine. We may not be able to steal Amanda’s hair strand for strand, but thanks to Cho’s tips, we can snag her style.
