Ever since we first heard her rapturous voice, we’ve been in love with Adele. How else can we say it? She’s a phenom, a true musical diva for the ages, and the woman we’d most want to have a glass of wine with. We mean, have you heard her laugh? She’s a woman after our own hearts.

But our obsession is based on more than just a major talent crush (although if you tell us you haven’t teared up at least once while listening to ‘Hello,’ we’ll call you a liar). Adele is frankly feminist, hilarious and honest to a surprising, refreshing degree—it’s not often a major musical powerhouse admits to finding fame “frightening.” As 25 deservedly breaks every damn musical record on the planet, how could we not celebrate her as our Woman Crush Wednesday? Let’s take a look back at some of Saint Adele’s most incredible hair and makeup moments.

As 25 deservedly breaks every damn musical record on the planet, how could we not celebrate her as our Woman Crush Wednesday? Let's take a look back at some of Saint Adele's most incredible hair and makeup moments.

Adele's love of big hair and even bigger eye makeup was evident all the way back in 2008. Though we obviously adore her as a golden blonde, aren't you kind of obsessed with this rich brunette hair color on her?

Our girl won two awards at the 2009 Grammy Awards—Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Performance—and this was when we saw her signature hair and makeup style begin to develop. Neutral lips paired with major eye makeup (note the nod to the '60s with her heavy false lashes) and long, perfectly manicured nails.

By the time the 2011 MTV VMAs rolled around, Adele had perfected her beauty game with a look palatable enough to the world at large to land her on best-dressed lists, but still unique enough to be recognizably her. We're still in love with this truly gigantic curled hairstyle and her perfect cheek contour.

At the 2012 Grammys, Adele won 7 awards for her (totally incredible) album 21. Her red carpet look was as streamlined as her black, glimmery dress: heavy eyeliner (without the usual eyelid contouring) with major eyelashes, flawless skin, incredible warm-toned red lips. We're also going on record as saying that there's no hair color that doesn't work on this woman—look at how amazing this golden lob is on her!

This sky-high beehive somehow manages to be retro but not dated at all, which proves that Adele is made of magic.

Adele describes her usual beauty look as "full, done-up, hair-and-makeup borderline drag," which only makes us want to hang out with her more. If she could lend us this perfectly pink dusty-rose lipstick and share her skincare secrets with us too, that would also be fantastic.

Adele won the Oscar for Best Original Song for Skyfall in 2013, rocking this gloriously ladylike look on the red carpet. The half-up style is new for her, and we love the way she's styled her long bangs—they really add movement and modernity to what could otherwise be quite a staid look. Sleek, chic and gorgeous—just the way we like her.

Because we're so used so seeing Adele so done up—and this is likely a way to keep her public persona from interfering in her private life—this stripped down, minimally made up cover of Rolling Stone was a revelation. As 25 continues to break records (including selling an insane 3.38 million copies in its first week, the highest debut since sales records have been kept) and she keeps serving us showstopping performance after showstopping performance, we're more convinced than ever that Adele is an angel sent from heaven to bless us with her presence. We genuinely couldn't love her more.
