Renowned Vogue editor Anna Wintour isn’t known as being a foodie, though she is known as a trendsetter, so it should come as no surprise that her favorite New York City restaurants are some of the chicest and hardest reservations to come by in town.

MINETTA TAVERN: Part American bar and part Parisian steakhouse, Minetta’s is just a block away from Anna Wintour's house in Greenwich Village and serves the steak and (bunless) burgers that Anna Wintour prefers for lunch. She is one of the 15 people in the whole world, along with Woody Allen, who have AAA reservation priority at chef Keith McNally's restaurants. “Minetta doesn’t deliver, but we deliver to Anna,” McNally once said. Another fun fact: Before the McNally incarnation of the restaurant, Minetta’s was a regular hangout of Beat Generation writers like Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs in the 1930's. 113 MacDougal Street; minettatavernny.com.
DA SILVANO: One of the first restaurants that introduced Tuscan flavors to the American palate, this Italian restaurant with a rustic atmosphere counts regulars like Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Gisele Bündchen, and Giorgio Armani as family. According to chef and owner Silvano Marchetto, “Anna Wintour [has] been a longtime customer,” and “Rihanna comes in a lot when she is in New York.” Apparently, this is Wintour's favorite spot to meet with designers, and she's been spotted dining here with Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Isaac Mizrahi and many others. 260 6th Avenue; dasilvano.com.
THE LION: The chicken potpie on the menu of this speakeasy-inspired restaurant is Anna Wintour’s favorite dish, according to her private chef Hank Tomashevski. In fact, this potpie (described as "a ton of flour and butter" by chef and owner of the restaurant John DeLucie) became so famous among the fashion crowd that there was an entire article written about it in The New York Times. The potpie is served on Sundays, and with a $25 sticker price, it's one of the "cheaper" options on the menu. 62 West 9th Street; thelionnyc.com.
ABC KITCHEN: You don’t want to miss out on a trip to ABC Kitchen (unofficially known as a restaurant always bursting with celebrities), especially during fashion week. Anna Wintour is among the list of notables who can’t get enough of the organic fare served here. 35 East 18th Street; abckitchennyc.com.
BALTHAZAR: Maybe the only place where Anna Wintour has been seen “laughing up a storm” in public, this legendary Soho brasserie is known as restaurateur Keith McNally's masterpiece and has been frequented by the high fashion crowd since it opened in 1997. Wintour has dined here on multiple occasions within the past year, including a dinner with Sarah Jessica Parker. 80 Spring Street; balthazarny.com.
