Plenty of celebrities wore orange on Thursday to support National Gun Violence Awareness Day, but Amy Schumer made the strategic choice to wear as little orange as possible. She posted the above selfie for the organization’s #WearOrange day with the caption “Today please #wearorange for gun safety! #everytown” on Instagram.
It turned out to be a genius move—getting naked is a tried-and-true, if overdone, way to get the public’s attention—as the photo had more than 39,000 likes this morning. Since two fans were gunned down at a showing of her movie “Trainwreck” last year, she’s taken on the issue of gun safety in her comedy, doing sketches on both on her show, “Inside Amy Schumer,” and “Saturday Night Live.” In the piece from her show, she skewers just how easy it is to buy a gun while playing a home-shopping-show host ready to sell one to each and every caller.
