Last fall, it was reported that Amy Schumer inked an unprecedented book deal for her memoir. Details on the project were tight—Publishers Weekly reported themes would include Amy’s “childhood, how she got her big break in comedy, her family, and feminism.” But the comedian and actress sealed the deal Wednesday, when she posted an Instagram revealing the book’s title—The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo—and the release date.
“Yay! Book!” the 34-year-old captioned the post, which shows her from the back wearing a leather jacket embellished with her last name, the words August 2016, and the tagline “Amy Schumer: The first woman to write a book.”
Yay is right: It was reported there was an all-out bidding war among publishing houses, and the winning bid fell somewhere between $8 and $10 million. To put that into context—and to prove how in demand the star is right now—Tina Fey’s Bossypants book deal was reportedly worth around $5 million, Lena Dunham was paid $3.7 million for Not That Kind of Girl, and Mindy Kaling reportedly signed a $7.5 million deal to cowrite a book with BFF (and ex) B.J. Novak.
